Hey guys, first post, this looks like a good forum to join.

Question: If I want to take a buddy to the range and teach him to shoot a gun for the first time, no big deal, right?

What if I wanted to start a small business doing the very same (one on one training)? Would it be mandatory to be certified by the NRA to be able to take a customer into the range with a .22 handgun and do some basic handgun orientation and then some shooting?

Thanks,
Matt

What's your background, what can you offer to teach, also what are your local laws on other people shooting? What range would let you make cash using their facilities for teaching?

No one "Mandates" you get NRA certified or otherwise but some people consider it credibility.

Sounds like you need some legal research.

When starting any kind of business, consult a lawyer, an accountant, and an insurance agent. You have to think about worst case scenarios...how are you going to present yourself in court when one of your students shoots someone in a neighboring bay?
