Tech sights on Ruger 10/22 heavy barrel

Has anyone installed Tech sights on Ruger 10/22 with a heavy barrel? I bought a new 10/22 and the sights and than discovered that I need an adaptor for the front sight. It is attached with thread locking adhesive. Question is how to make sure it is vertical and centered on top of the barrel. All tech sight people are away at Camp Perry until the 16th.

I just clamped mine in the gun vise and eyeballed it looking through the rear peep. Apparently that was close enough as it only took a few windage clicks to get it zeroed. Not the most high tech or pro grunsmith answer, but it worked for me. You can always break it free and try again if you're too far off (you wouldn't dare use red loctite, would you? )

I really didn't like the adaptor so I ended sending mine out to Volksquaren (sp) and paid them to mill a dovetail on the barrel and install the front sight. Yes, it cost some good coin $200ish and it makes no financial sense but I like what I have.
