Oh boy, I'll be leaving my pistol in a gun cabinet for 2 months very shortly, now I'm getting scared I'll miss something when I oil it before I put it away.

Left some of mine for 14 months in a closed house. Quick wipe with an oily rag before leaving and everything was fine when I got back. :)

Yea, me to. I have 4 rifles in a clothes closet for 4 years now, since I moved to North Carolina, I got them out a week ago and they are fine.

I have almost damaged a firearm with Rem Oil before.

I'd be looking more at the firearm manufacturer than at the Rem Oil. They may have had a bad batch of polymer.

You guys do what you think you need to do with storing your firearms but the LGS I used in PA was one of the largest in Pennsylvania and I asked them one day if, with all the people handling their rifles and handguns if they had problems with them rusting, They told me all they do is wipe them down with a Silicon rag and put them back on the rack. They never had one rust unless someone forgot to wipe one down. Some were up there for several years.

I clean the barrel bore with Hoppes 9, wipe the outside down with the same and there good to go.

If I handle one later it gets wiped off with a Silicone clothe. I've never had a rust problem in PA or NC.

The FN owner's manuals warn against using lubricants with Teflon additives. I've spoken with a person at FN and they have had problems with rifles and shotguns where the Teflon has cooked onto gas pistons gumming up the gun. There are far better lubricants than RemOil.
