I've been looking at some material on the CZ-83 in .380. Anyone have any experience pro or con with this gun.

Wonderful!! See my recent post:
http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/defensive-carry-guns/58778-cz-vz-82-a.html

Note that unlike years before.

There seems to be some continued interest in the CZ83
and RAMI ..as the temps drop around the nation.

Usually, people are buying bigger guns for winter carry.

Not that people wating to buy small CZs is a bad thing, just
different in this year of Obama Mania.

A person gets a very sound piece of defensive equipment with the CZ 82/83. Especially at $169 price tag from some places for the 82.

Best of luck with your eventual CZ or other firearm purchase.

I had an 83, sort of regret selling it. it was 100% functional and fairly accurate. handled better than the Walther PPK/s that it replaced.
I got a BDA when I sold it (fine pistol BTW) which is my B-B-Q gun now, a Makarov is my CCW piece now and bedstand gun also replaceing my .357 Ruger GP. a little more 'punch' than my .380's and very pointable and reliable.

I have one, but use it only as a range gun. It's reliable with everything I've put through it, but for it size and weight I would rather have my XD9sc for CCW

I rate mine as an OK gun. It is pretty accurate and reliable but it bites the web of my hand. It don't like the fact that it has no decocker, but they have a good trigger. I'd carry a Beretta 84 before the CZ 83 as the Beretta holds an extra round, they are the same size and weight, but that's my preference.

CZ-83

Thanks for your posts - I may try one of these

Very comfy ergos, accurate and great out of the box trigger.

Large for the caliber though, so if you want a small .380 there are many smaller. If you're comfortable with that size pistol, there are 9mms that will pack more punch and be cheaper to feed.

I have an 83....

.......and love it. It is a bit large for its caliber ( only a bit smaller than my CZ75 Compact ), but man is it a sweet shooter. I've since mounted nightsights and a heavier spring on mine. I load my own rounds for it that's the reason behind the spring. Mine are 100 grainers at just short of 1000 fps. Pretty darn accurate too! And like someone stated earlier, the ergonomics are great. It's a natural pointer.

i would love to have one - but i don't have cash to buy every gun i want. for CCW it's a bit big compared to other subcompact 9mm and 380auto offerings, but as a gun it is very accurate and works great.
