I posted to a thread recently about the new Redfield scopes and there were questions about POI shift with magnification changes. At the time it seemed like I was getting about a 1" shift up and right from 4X to 12X. Since then I bedded and floated the rifle and had my shooting partner (who shoots better than I) run thru the scope settings from 4x to 12x at 100, 200, and 300 yards - past 300 it starts to become difficult to rule out accuracy issues from shift issues. There was no shift at all at 100 yards. At 200 yards it looked like maybe a half inch. And at 300 yards a full magnification change was maybe 3/4". So obviously the amount of shift increases concomitantly with distance. But again, this is running from 4x all the way to 12x. I usually work from 8x to 12x up to 500 yards and don't see it as a problem.

Now, that said, at the other range I go to one of the guys has the 3-9x50 model and he says he gets no shift at all from 3x to 9x out to 300 yards, which was the extent of his shooting with it.

Like my 12x40, his seemed to track very, very well. I've been practicing come-ups with various ammo to develop a data chart with match HP and practice SP ammo and I'm still impressed with the scope. It tracks much better and much more consistently than my old Leupy Rifleman on my 700 30-06. And we often go thru 100+ rounds in a session and when I crank it back down to it's zero to fire a final few rounds at the 100 yard zero target it is dead on every time. I think it's a pretty good buy for a $180 scope.
