Texas State 3-Gun Championship, 10 and 11 April 2004 in San Angelo, Texas...ten fun and challenging stages with an Easter flair! Compete in Open, Limited, or the new Tactical class under the IPSC rules (this is a USPSA sanctioned event), with medals and chocolate rabbits awarded per class and division. Ranges vary from point blank to 200 yards and shotgun targets includes flying clays, steel, and paper (slugs). All stages are the innovative and fiendish type made famous through eight successive Carter Martin Classics and the 2001 Texas State Limited!

Stage breakout: two handgun, two rifle, two shotgun, two rifle/pistol, one shotgun/pistol, and one pistol/rifle/shotgun...bring a lot of ammo!

Comments: Reasonably priced tasty food available on site (I'm not just the match director, I'm a competitor...and nothing annoys me more than overpriced substandard chow at matches ;) ). Still working on venders, prize table (last year's match had a "visit by random drawing" surprise prize table...which won't be much of a surprise this year :) ).

RO match held 3-4 April.

Entry forms? Oh, I have entry forms!

Yours,

Pending any better ideas, I liked the four-man team (one GM/M, one A, one B/C, one C/D) idea, sign up at the match, either cash back 50/30/20 or additional trophies.

What do you think?

Alex

Eight hours? Heck, I drive that for a club match :)

This match is shaping up well...looks like ten stages, 2/pistol, 2/rifle, 2/shotgun, 1/pistol-rifle, 2/pistol-shotgun, 1/pistol-rifle-shotgun. Lots of moving targets: flying stuff, stars, hammers, swingers... Nothing past 200 yards, unfortunately, since that is the limit of our rifle range, but a decent round count and a lot of interesting shooting challanges.

Alex

I just realized that you guys made the match on Easter weekend. Is there a reason you picked one of the top five holidays to shoot?

The round counts balance per weapon system more than it looks ;)

Why Easter? Simple, the nice folks south of Houston did us wrong. They have had the Space City Challenge every year, fourth Sunday in April, just like clockwork.

So I set this match up for the third weekend in April...and after posting it on the ISPC list, I found out that Space City was the THIRD weekend this year. If I made the Texas State 3-Gun on the fourth weekend, my RO staff would be about six instead of eighteen...we all go to Space City every year, and if my match was the fourth weekend then the RO match would be on this year's Space City...and they would all play hooky.

And...the fourth weekend is the S&W Match at the Clark Range...much of my range staff is female, and will be at Kay's ladies-only class that week with the match that weekend.

Sigh.

But at least Easter was a good choice from a decorating standpoint!

If it is like last years match it will be great. I will be there! Already have my application in!

This year's match is being put together by the same fiendish trolls who build the last one :)

We do have a limited number of slots (a VERY limited number) available for the weekend before, to shoot with the RO's. All the scores will be run together, just like last year, and we can mail trophies and chocolate to anyone shooting that weekend because of Easter scheduling conflicts. Email me for more information!

Make your plans and send in your entries for the 2004 Texas State 3-Gun Championships! The match will be 10-11 April this year. We've been a little slow in getting advertising out, but the match is really coming together. Ask anyone who shot the match last year, it was a pretty darned fun match (if I do say so myself). This years' promises to be even more exciting and challenging. Think about this:

10 stages total

3 pistol stages
2 rifle stages
2 shotgun stages
1 shotgun/pistol stage
1 rifle/pistol stage
1 3-gun stage

Minimum over 350 rounds (Yes! We like to shoot in San Angelo!). About 150 rounds each pistol and rifle, about 80 rounds shotgun (including 15 rounds of slugs).

We've got a new match hotel that's offering a special rate for competitors. The caterer is coming back so there will be food/drink at the range. Come on down and enjoy some West Texas hospitality, some really challenging shooting, and some serious competition.

OK, so you just can't get away on Easter weekend? The RO's are shooting the same match on 3-4 April (all scores will be included in the final results). There are a limited number of slots to shoot with the RO's. Let me know and we'll try to work you in.

The entry form is available at <http://www.sanangelogunclub.org/action_pistol/2004TS3Gunentry.pdf >

We hope to see you all at the Texas State 3-Gun Championship. It will be the best 3-Gun match you shoot this year!

Hey guys!

I am looking forward to the food if it is going to be anything like last year!
What is going to be on the menu?

Guy

I'm trying to pin down the same folks as last year...incidently, they are the same group that caters the Texas State Limited up in Breckenridge.

Real handmade hamburgers and the best breakfast burritos around :)

Alex

Still have about 25 slots available...did I mention the secret random-drawing prize table? Three guns so far, plus a heap of other neat stuff including Bar Sto barrels...
