Hey, all those threads involving nice looking AR-s, in whatever configuration have made me want an AR. And not a simple ARgery, but 3 AR type rifles; in priority/wanting order:
  • Knights Mk.11 Mod 0, with all the bells and whistles
  • Armalite AR-10(T), with good scope (mildot, ~10x)
  • Armalite AR-10A4, same as above
Arggh, they're not cheap. And as you may notice, they're all accurate rifles, in 7.62 cal (.308 Win). So much from the 5.56 vs 7.62.

So thanks a lot..

I say save the money and custom build the mark 11 mod 0.
i am sure you can do it for far less than knight's wants for them. i know my buddy does an outstanding job, if you know how to build them of course and even have the desire to, like me i have n want or desire to do so. but if i was gonna put that much money into one i might think about learning to build. also have you checked out the DPMS sass they are sweet but not so pricy as the knight's.

perhaps also get an armalite or dpms ar10-style in 300SAUM, just to be different.
brass is very available, even norma make it now.

As I understand, Armalite sells AR-10 stripped uppers and lowers under their Eagle Arms brand. It may be less expensive to build to your tastes, and your rifle would be better suited to your likes.

No, haven't checked the SASS, but it sounds good. From these 3 the best would be IMHO the AR-10(T), since it offers a ~moa accuracy for not too big prize, and then tweak it a bit to get it be, say, a 3/4 moa rifle.

The ammo isn't available in here, sorry. Since I could use the vast quantites of ammo in HQ armory, I'd like it to be standard calibre, either 5.56 or 7.62 NATO. Also, since my work is mostly mid- to long-range, it better be 7.62.

I could take an standard issue AK-4 and tweak it a bit, basic gun is cheap, but it's at least a 3 moa gun, if I'm lucky.

Besides, AR10 "looks cool" and is a respectable military firearm in some of it's mods.

Well, I have spent a good bit of money based on THR threads and links. However, I have a number of surplus rifles and such that I likely wouldn't have if I hadn't learned something on this site. I have also avoided some buys. I think I have become a better shot using suggestions learned on this site as well.

My brother has decided he wants an AR-10. I think he is torn between wanting a hunting rifle and wanting a semi-auto battle rifle. An AR-10 sort of fits both.
