The “Perfect” .22 Rifle

There aren't "target circles" on deer, you know

Not trying to get too off topic. That's why new hunters learn to shoot accurately on targets. Then I move them to deer silhouette targets with the vitals on the back side to learn how to aim on animals.

Here's the next question begging to be answered.
What quantifies as your perfect .22 rifle?

Mine would start with being able to shoot another sites Sawdust Challange.
4 consecutive 5 shot groups at 25 yds under 1/4" center to center.
If a rifle can't do that, or be tuned to do that it doesn't qualify for me.

Something like the rifle I dream of in post #52.

"I still can't get the thought out of my head of a modified Marlin tube magazine bolt action. Basically, an XT or similar with the barrel lopped to 16.25" and the mag tube shortened to be just longer than the forend of the stock like a Marlin 75. It would hold maybe 6 to 8 cartridges in the tube, but I'd modify the butt stock with a trap door to hold maybe 18 to 24 spare rounds. Old school thinking with that idea, for some reason I like the thought of a fully protected mag tube and not having to keep track of detachable box magazines."

But until I actually move on that desire to mod a gun to be like that, I'll settle on my detachable mag Zastava carbine. It represents just about everything I want in a rimfire rifle.

I'd give a thumbs-up on the Zastava !
Did one with a peep sight and flat front post.
Great metal finish and a decent stock.
Shot my NRA Rifle Instructor pre-qual with it.
