I was hunting yesterday and met a guy who said he said hog can be hunted with Buckshot, this way you wouldn't have to worry about rangers bothering you for carrying slugs? is that possible/ is that true.

Also, what is the difference between:

1) buckshot and #1 shot
2) buck shot and #2 shot
3) buckshot and double ot buck
4) buckshot and triple ot buck

no but they try to say your not there for hog but bust your chops checking your license and your guns, trying to say you are their to hunt deer illegally

Well it wouldn't matter then.

You can illegally hunt deer with buckshot too.

Thats why it was named Buck Shot years & years ago.

Game management people aren't busting your chops.

They are doing their job of insuring everyone follows the same rules and pays the same license fees.

The money goes into game management and game law enforcement to weed out the poachers and scuff-law riff-raff.

And thats a real Good thing for all hunters to support!!

Have you had any state sponsored Hunter Safety training yet??
They explain a lot of things like that!

+1 for RC's comments.

I would add that; Have the correct license, use the correct equipment that is allowed for the game you are hunting, that which the state you are hunting in permits. You won't have issues. Simple as that.

FWIW,....my nephew is a Michigan "Fish Cop"....otherwise known as a Michigan DNR Conservation Officer. Neither he,...nor many of his associates whom I have met "rip on" people needlessly. These folks are professionals, but they are people too. Checking your licenses and gear IS part of their job. You give them reason to check you out,....they most assuredly will.

yea but after you unload your gun for them do they have you put your guns on the dirt when your truck is there next to you?

Better they put your guns in the dirt, and you next to the truck.

Then the guns on the truck, and you in the dirt!

Whatever they did was likely done for their & your safety while they were going about the license check.

I am actually kinda shocked that the antis didn't jump on buckshot yet, most states banned it's use in hunting years ago. From there point of view ther would be no reason for a law abiding gun owner to have something so dangerous and useless.... but they seem to leave it alone?

Just curious , Are you hunting on public land ? The only thing I saw in the regulations were that during spring turkey season you could not possess buckshot ! Kevin
