J&G Sales is running magazines on sale for $ 14.95.

Thanks for the link, but I am not sure.

The pictures show that the base plate is stamped "mfg CZ", but I bought a half-dozen of these from Robertson's Trading Post a year ago for a hair over $25 each and have a very hard time believing they are genuine 'CZ factory made' magazines. None of them now want to lock the slide back, and more than one would not feed reliably. My thought is that they might have been 'mfg' in a town named 'CZ' somewhere in China, if they are accurately marked.

I am always searching for CZ 82/83 mags, and the selling price on these has been consistently falling, but I have not purchased any more. At $14.95 each they could actually make it as extra range / practice magazines, but I would be hesitant to count on one if I really needed it. Of course, YMMV.

Here is a relevant thread from July on the CZ Forum: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=65365.0;topicseen

il. bill,

Ad says "These are factory CZ magazines for the CZ-82 and CZ-83. They work for both 9x18 and 380ACP calibers. They are blued steel double stack mags that hold 12 rounds of 9x18 for the CZ-82 or 13 rounds of 380 for the CZ-83. Factory new mags from CZ, with no retail packaging. "

Sounds like a different product than the ones sold back in July.

Man, I would buy a dozen at less than $15 each if I knew that they really were manufactured by CZ. CZ-USA is closed for inventory at this time, but the last time I looked, factory CZ82/83 magazines were selling for about $40 apiece or more.

J&G Sales are certainly a legitimate operation, but that "mfg CZ" stamped on the base plate and evident in the one photo scares me off. Even so, I am sorely tempted at the sale price. However, two old adages keep popping into my head: "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is not", and "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".

If anyone buys some of these inexpensive 'factory' magazines I would be very interested in a range report and would be pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong regarding my skepticism.

Either way, thanks again for the link, BSA1. It would not be unusual for me to override my concerns and buy some anyway - I often prove susceptible to temptation.

They are identical to the ones sold by Wideners. Weld line on the front and back. "mfg CZ" on the bottom. If I had guess, the CZ stands for Chu-Zhou, a city in China.

I sent them back. J&G wasn't happy and insisted there was nothing wrong with them, but did not try to assert they were made by CZ (the legit factory) or were true milsurp without the "crossed swords" marking. I think a lot of dealers got taken by somebody in China and are stuck with a lot of bad product.
