The "dragon breath" thread got me to wondering...

Not sure of where and how much Mike but ... usually seems that flare cartridges are intended for those short barrelled, dedicated, flare pistols. Seen one IIRC in Sportsmans Guide at some point.

Almost any boat or marine supply store would sell them.

I've heard of them getting stuck in SG bores before and continue to burn causing much damage. Unknown what choke was used. Cylinder bore is probably ok but anything tighter is to be considered very carefully, if you get my drift. Maybe cutting one open and seeing if it will drop through the bore...

Be careful!!!:uhoh:

They do get stuck in the bore. My wife's grandfather tried one in his old squareback Browning goose gun. 32" full choke. the thought it would work like a tracer. It hit the choke and burned out. Fortunately it didn't damage the gun but was a mess to clean up. I wouldn't shoot one in anything with a choke of any kind.

There are flares meant for shotguns, but I've not found them. Anybody finds them or a source for the 25mm flares for the surplus flare guns out there, please post it. :)
