I have a std collapsable stock on my ar but it's just not right for some reason. THen I realized there are ALOT of a/m stocks available out there. SO, what is the difference and which are the stocks to look at?

PS...I want something I can get a more consistent cheek weld on...On the one I have, sometimes it's right, but alot of the time, I have to adjust :banghead:

I really like the Magpul M93 series. It is a great stock if you like to run a collapsible stock; but don't want the half on the stock/half on the buffer tube cheek weld. It is also the most solid of the adjustable stocks as in the locked position, it is literally as solid as a fixed stock.

That model is being discontinued in favor of the new Magpul UBR stock that will be released around September 15. The UBR has most of the same features but easier installation and a smoother look to it (as well as storage).

If you run the stock close in (one or two notches out) where the unique M93/UBR design doesn't matter, then the Crane, VLTOR, Magpul CTR, and various other saddle designs all use the current buffer tube and work pretty good for a nice cheek weld.

Another vote for the Magpul. I'm very happy with the stock in all positions, though I'd like to see Magpul as a company deliver on their newer "demo" models....

I've tried the Ace SOCOM, CAA, generic RRA M4 clone, and M93. Of these choices, the M93 is far and away the superior product. You won't realize just how tight, easily adjustable, or comfortable the M93 is until you try the others...

That's my impression as well.

About the only thing I'd like changed on the M93 is the buttplate surface; I'd prefer something with a little more 'give' to it so the M93 would be mo' suitable for use on my AR10.

I haven't tried any yet, but I'm waiting for the new magpul one personally.

A cheap solution for you could be the $22 CAA Stock saddle. I got one on mine and it greatly improves the cheekweld of the standard 6-position stock. It kinda gives the stock the look of an LMT SOPMOD stock.
Agree on all points. I have one and it works like a champ. That said, given the way it mounts to the stock, and the mounting equipment (a couple of screws and plastic blocks) I'd think twice about going into harm's way with one attached.

I've also used the Ace SOCOM stock. It has a neoprene sleeve around the buffer tube to give a better cheek to stock and is tough and sturdy as all git out.

My only complaint with the SOCOM was that it didn't seem to tolerate frequent adjustment changes well. The aluminum around the cross-stop notches was wearing BADLY on the one that I had.....

I'm looking forward to the Magpul UBR. I haven't tried the m93, but the LMT SOPMOD is the best of the ones I've felt.

I've recently tried the ACE SOCOM...just okay, but high cool factor...I've also tried the M93 and liked it...still recovering from the sticker shock tho :what: Now, after seeing a couple of the pics, I'm waiting for the UBR and I'm getting ready to get hit in the shorts again :what:
What I have is okay for now, I'll just wait & see what shows up in the next couple of months

I'm looking forward to the Magpul UBR.

I'm beginning to think we all may be old and dead before anything new comes out of Magpul though.....

I'm still waiting for all the promised "accessories" for the 93 that will never materialize.

TexasSIGman may be onto something. Gleaned this from ar15 today from magpul about the ubr stock that was scheduled for release on 8/15, then pushed to 9/15:

With manufacturing something new you sometimes hit roadblocks in production and we hit upon two things when we were testing the 10 prototypes. Because of that we are doing some redesign of those two parts.

As such we are going to have to push back the release date by a couple of months.

The good news is that other than these two issues the prototypes functioned better than we had hoped.

my magpul m93b is fantastic. i did break the buttplate, and they replaced it for free, so i can give a thumbs up to their service too.

however, like txsigman, i'm very disappointed in their overall promise that i'd be able to put lots of different types of stocks on. i was particularly interested in one of the adjustable comb/pull ones.
