I recently had a chance to shoot a new Remington 332 - Remington's latest over/under. It was the first o/u I have ever shot, and I have to say I am amazed by how good it felt. The balance was absoultly perfect. It fit like a glove, and I got good trap scores (for me) with it. It made my 870 TC feel bulky and rather cumbersome.

I also had a chance to shoot the Competition 870 (the one with the gas recoil reducer). It was very nice, and reduced recoil to almost negative. I imagine cleaning out the piston and spring is a huge hassle though.

Anyways, does anybody else think its wierd that Remington only offers the 332 in field grade? It would make an excellent trap gun and great alternative to the Citori. Is there a reason they aren't in the fancy o/u market???

I can imagine it is a pretty good gun although I haven't shot one yet. I think the biggest reason that it isn't popular is the big thing that Sporting clays shooters have against any gun that doesn't start with a "B". I hear it all the time that I should really trade my Ruger for a Browning or a Beretta. There is no way I will ever shoot well with that "stick of wood" Ruger calls an O/U. The same applies to Remington. If its made in America its no good. Well I like things made here and I am anxious to try a 332. I just hope I don't like it better than my Red Label, the wife just wouldn't understand another shotgun!:what:

Remington O/U's of the last 10 years or so---beginning with the Peerless--- have been quite crude---not even up to Red Label standards-----and nothing even approaching the "B" guns-----and I'm talking field grade guns.

Why drop $1000 on a nasty Remington---when $200 to $300 more gets you 5 times the gun??

Gunshops tell me that target shotguns are a small part of the overall shotgun sales. Field guns sell quite a bit more I am told, even in O/U's.

Remington stopped selling their last "target quality" O/U in the mid 80's with the 3200...IMHO. So, I have to assume they don't feel it's worth the trouble.
