The Remington Model 31 is the finest pump action ever made, fight me

I had to check. Two of my 870s will open themselves with the muzzle up by hitting the bolt release. Of course, one has about 150K rounds through it and the other i detail assembled with highly polished parts.
As a new (ugh) 870 sells for nearly a grand, that old Remington with all the necessary hand fitting would rival a Kolar in price.
Best ever, no. One of the best pumps, ok.

Gough Thomas noticed somehow that if you didn't hold the foreend, a pump gun would kick itself open. He clamped on weights and got one to open completely and eject the empty. Kind of an awkward way to shoot, though, and they sell automatics for the purpose.

I have a model 31 and it is like greased lightning, super smooth. What's nice about it it's 16ga on a 20ga frame.
