The Tiebreaker Criterion

Been scouting today. Came to the realization that if I find 8 "perfect spots" for my ambush place, to put a stand or blind near a trail(s), for example, but I only have 3 stands or blinds to put up in that area, the tiebreaker goes to those parts of the woods that flat out just look the most aesthetically pleasing to me. If I'm gonna sit there for 3 or more hours on a given day looking around, I want it to be a nice view. No trash or other manmade objects in sight, nice forest canopy happenin, some openness underneath, interesting or unusual trees or other flora around, etc., etc.

Anyone do the same? I will just pick the pretty spot instead of just analyzing incessantly which one is the best for bucks/does/morning/evening/north wind/south wind/early season/late season, etc., if it's *pretty much* a tie between two spots.

When I lived in and bow hunted NY for whitetails,the woods had a patch of mature oak,about 50 acres,in a 500 acre woodlot. By far the most pleasant part of the woods,big old trees with little underbrush,clear shooting lanes to 100 yards,lots of squirrel and turkey to watch and of course in bow season the leaves were in their fall colors. Even had a little stream running though it.
Anyway the good part was where the oaks are is where the acorns are. Where the acorns are is where the deer are. So,no decision to be made.
I really loved that spot. May retire back there when my days of hard moose and sheep hunting are over.

I pick duck hunting spots kinda like that. Its almost reversed though. I look for a very cluttered area to hide in and make sure I am facing anyway but east. It's really hard to shoot airborn quackers when the sun is right in your face. Some days we just look for a spot that has little undergrowth and just sit on the bank under a tree. I only get the chance to deer hunt a few times a year so I am impartial to the aesthetics. I get to thinking about grilled backstrap and I just want to go someplace where there is the best chance to shoot a doe.

"...8 "perfect spots" for my ambush place..." To ambush what? Deer? Coming from or going to bedding and water/food deals with deer nearly everywhere. Mind you, the best nap I've ever had was on a foam pad, leaning on a tree, in the sunshine, pretending to be hunting tree rats. Hunting isn't always about filling the game bag.

The principle could apply to anything but yes, I was referring to scouting for whitetails.
