The Worlds Best Slingshot

Interesting I'm new in here but I'd like to say that I have been doing a bit of research for the past few weeks to try to find what is out there in anything related with slingshots. As I looked more and more I became more interested in creating one that is far beyond what is actually on the market. From my search there were a few that I thought I would actually want to have and some that I could se being reconstructed to be super slingshots.
Please if you have used or experienced these slingshots add your input. The
Trumark FS-1 seems to be somewhat basic and portable I do like the additional chamber in the handle for Ammo. I had wondered why I had not yet to see a sling shot with this small but good Idea. Another Trumark product I liked was the new concept of the FSXFO. I can see how this slingshot would improve your aim but I tend to wonder about the durability on the new rotating prongs being plastic. 1 last Trumark product that I looked at was the Bat A night hunter again I like the idea but with the plastic prongs I dont care if they offer me a lifetime warranty it seems cheap to me also take a good look at the how far these these posts go into the plastic that I'm pulling back.. http://www.slingshots.com/html/the-bat-slingshot.html
I have to say that is another weak point on this slingshot.
Looking up to some more commercial slingshots the wrist rocket pro. Ihis one I must say has caught my eye and as many would not like the fact that it is not the smallest slingshot but it does fold up into itself rather nicely and locks up. Hmm good Idea.. I do like the style of this thing. you can beat the place for the hand grip and your hand seems well protected especially if you plan on doing any modifications to it as I would. I can see how this pro Version could rocket come arrows. I also see that as it just clamps the bands that you have various combinations of rubber that you could use..
They also claim that the your shooting with this would be more accurate with this model. Hmm... I can see a mini laser on this thing too. Maybe where the handle is.. I'm not saying that this one would be the best that I have seen in my search so far but I sure do like it but see some other ways on how to improve it. First I would actually like to have it in my hands to experience the durability. Notice that this is high importance to me in a slingshot. I think a slingshot should last you forever. At least we could say something would se everything these days seem to break or have breaking parts.. Ok.. so the Rubber... yea yea yea.. well we know that thats going to need replacing time to time..
Well ok other than the Wrist Rocket Pro. There are 2 other Slingshots that I found and it took me a while to find them because they are both made by the same company, But I tell you.. I like them the best as this combination slingshot/bow is what I had in mind to create, and as I was looking for what I might create so I searched and searched and found both of these out there.
1 is called the (Hot Shot) it is very portable and is basically a slingshot & bow and the other is called the (Com Bow Sling) both are made by Robert Blair.

Please tell me what you think.. I would have to say that from what I have seen that this com bow sling seems like it would be the best in the world and that would be for target or hunting I would love to try each of these. I have sent an email to the Robert Blair website but there has been no reply as of yet.

I have a couple Ideas for a creation as I still think there can be many improvments for our oldest weapon known to man, but as of know could you please tell me what your opinion on the worlds best slingshot is!!

My opinion is that the world's best slingshot is a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with #00 Federal LE buckshot. It slings forth nine shots at one mighty blow, emits a gigantic roar, and the rubberband never breaks. I prefer the Remington, Benelli, and Ithaca brands of slingshots but others like other brands and with them I have no quarrel.

That bow/sling looks interesting. I might have to try one of those. I think he got the idea for the rollers from the old Marksman Laserhawk Stealth slingshot.http://www.blowgunsnw.com/wr4.htm

It was a rather bizarre looking thing, but it was supposed to be their biggest seller. I don't understand why they discontinued it.

I have a Wrist Rocket Pro, and it is quite accurate. The flat bands work a little better than the tubular bands. It's also the most powerful slingshot I have tried, but the pull is very easy.

I also have a couple of Barnett Black Widows. If you get rid of the Barnett bands, and get yourself some tapered bands, it's surprisingly accurate. And it folds up pretty small. I think the Barnetts are the nicest conventional slingshots out there.

I had the Trumark with the fibre optic sights, but I gave it away. The sights are more of a gimmic than they are useful.

Finally, stay away from heavy-pull bands. You might get a bit more power, but accuracy goes straight to hell. Tapered bands work the best.

Personally, my interests in the 'best' slingshot include:

1) Durability - I want to minimize getting slapped in the face by broken bands. When I was a kid I had a wrist-rocket type slingshot that had little soft plastic prongs at the band attachment point which slipped into the bands about half an inch or so - they prevented the bands from folding too sharply at the end of the firing stroke. This worked well, and I do not see it on any modern slingshots. The roller idea looks interesting, too.

2) Accuracy - I want the slingshot to help me use it in a repeatable way. It has to be comfortable to draw and hold, it has to work well with a loose grip like you'd use on a bow, and it has to be set up in such a way that I can see my target and my 'sights' at the same time, at any reasonable range. A self-centering pouch seems like a good idea as well.

How about the slingshot equivalent of a crossbow, with a heavy draw weight at first, but a light draw weight at full extension? How about a handle that is separate from the body of the slingshot, with a hinge that holds them together? You can grip the handle tightly, and on firing, the slingshot body itself is allowed to flop forward in a nice consistent way - no more inaccuracy caused by a variations in grip strength.

Actually, many slingshots have those plastic prong caps. They usually come whith replacement bands, also. My Barnetts have them, and I bought some Marksman tapered bands that came with them also.

and it seems close to the idea of the Wrist Rocket Pro. I like the rollers that were added but I did not see anything not even as much as a groove on the back of the wrist for when drawing back a long arrow.

Oh The Laser Slingshot.. Yea I did look at the thing.. Saw the Video.. Interesting.. It reminds me of the old Scopeshot what was out with a laser on the side but it looks to be made cheaply.. Give me something thats going to last a lifetime.. Compact but powerful with top accuracy..

I was thinking that there might be a way of the hand grip also moving forward with stronger rubbers or some kind of spring mechanism.

Still I would like to see any hand made slingshot that blows away these commercial ones.. So far I do still like the com bow sling the best.

As for Hairless Rob's comment a got a laugh because sure the 12 gauge would work, but It impress me more to see a slingshot take down a deer.

Don't know about taking a deer down ,but I have engaged the warp drive on a young buck or two who needed a little fear of people put in 'em hickory nuts work well

Problem is, they don't make them anymore. They were discontinued about a year or so ago. I was even calling England trying to find one. Once in a while, one will pop up on Ebay.

The English shop owner I spoke with was not happy that they were discontinued. "Madness" was the word he used.
