I don't get too excited about the predictable response to any criminal use of guns. The antis will seize on any event and blow it out of proportion, just as any effective use of civilian firearms to prevent violence toward the law abiding will be ignored.
The reason that I carry a gun is that there are violent scumbags in the world and stories like these reinforce my determination to not be a victim.

Story is fake. Congress passed a law prohibiting guns nears schools so this could never happen.

There weren't any law-abiding gun enthusiasts present in this story, though. His friend loaned a gun to a felon. As is predictable, the felon proceeded to break laws as he pleased.

This is a sad story. Someone should have shot him first.
