This would be fun to have...

If I didnt honestly believe my parents would blow up my Blazer with it if I bought it, the Lahti would be the new crown jewel of my C&R collection.

Maybe I'll pass on this one and get a Solothorn in a few years. :D

The Lahti shoots 20mm, which, being greater than .50" in diameter, qualifies as a Destructive Device, and thus requires the $200 tax.

1934 National Firearms Act provides that a $200 Tax and background check is needed on transfer if:

-Fully automatic (or burst, anything > 1 per trigger pull)
-Short rifle/shotgun
-Projectile > .50 cal (I think this was a later amendment)
-Pistol with detachable shoulder stock
-AOW: "any other weapon" covers spy gadgets like pen guns, etc.
-Integral or detachable noise reducer (I think this is a $5 tax, not sure)

Uh....there might be some other items, but these should cover the main cases.

geekwitha.45- Nope, it's the AOW (and possibly the SBS/SBR, not sure) that has a $5 transfer. The noise reducer/suppressor is a $200 transfer.

Yep, and the destructive device category was added in 1968. Until the GCA 68 you could but these things through the mail. Mortars and live artillery too and the ammunition (the good stuff, HE, HEAT, AP) was also available through the mail.

I wouldn't want to be the mailman...some of that surplus WWII stuff might not be too stable....:uhoh:

On the other hand, you'd NEVER hear about people getting crushed or dinged up packages. I'm sure everyone would be REAL careful... LOL
