Any thoughts on the RRA Winter Trigger Guard for their AR-15 type rifles, for an all-around recreational/HD/SHTF rifle? I sort of like the look, but I'd be worried that it would be easier for something to slip behind the trigger and jam it forward when you go to pull it.

The standard AR-15 type trigger guard pivots down out of the way so you can shoot with winter gloves, yes? So what is the advantage of the RRA winter guard, unless it's for SWAT and such who will be using gloves on a regular basis?

Just wondering. Thanks for the input!

The major advantage is it still acts as a guard. If you swing your trigger guard down, it's no longer in a position to protect the trigger.

Another advantage is some of us use that little rubber 'Gapper' thing to fill the space between the guard and the pistol grip. While improving comfort, it prevents the guard from swinging down.

Esthetically, I like the look of the curved guard better than the flat one too.
