Well I just got back from the Big Reno gun show.
I spent over 8 hours walking the show and I did not see every table. I did not buy a gun despite there being THOUSANDS of nice guns I would love to own on display.
I end up just buying odds and ends. I picked up four complete Match sight sets for my M1 Garands and one set for my M1A. That was expensive!
I got to hand pick some very nice checked would grips for my Hi-power and some thin grips for my Les Baer.
I had a chance to get with the Folks from Lassen Coll. near Susanville CA and make plans to take a advanced 1911 smithing class from them this summer taught by well known Pistol smith.
I grab some surplus 30-06 Ammo and some reloading stuff. Ended up spending 800 dollars.
All in all the show was GREAT. If you like old Colt 1911s, Lever guns, Mil-surp rifles then this show is the SHOW OF SHOWS!! As per usual for the last few years the Mi-wall ammo and reloading folks had beautiful girls selling ammo which is always a treat and causes me to spend to much.
It sucks being from CA and that show but there are CA dealers in attendance. I had a FFL holder friend with me to grease the skids but I was after assorted junk for than another gun Anyway.
It was not too crowded on Friday but Saturday was a MADHOUSE. I suggest getting there first thing Friday for a day of walking around and making deals the go back through on Saturday for a final haggle and buy from your pre-screened vendors.
I am stunned at how nice everyone is at the Reno show. The Hotel staff, the show attendees, the vendors everybody bent over backward to help everyone else have a good time. Twice I had vendors walk me over to other vendors that they thought might have what I wanted at a good price.
The food was a great too, I love that buffet in the Hilton. They had freaking prime rib at the brunch! Not stingy with it either.
I finished the weekend off at the range today with Shooting a M1 garand with the new sights. Big difference. Great weekend to be me!!
