Is there anyone who could sponsor for the Thurmont Conservation and Sportsman's Club? I live in Martisnburg, WV and am looking for local ranges. If you're a member and can sponsor, please let me know.

I work in Thurmont every day, but I don't know any members there. Sorry. Seems a wee bit odd to LEAVE WV to go shoot in MD, of all places, but if that's what works for you...

How far away from Chambersburg, PA are you? Chambersburg Pistol & Rifle Club is nice facility and I'm pals with the IDPA match director there.

You'd probably find the gun culture and laws up in PA a lot closer to what you're used to in WV than you will in MD.

Sam, thanks for the reply. I'm newish to the area and just trying to find places to shoot. Most near me seem to be in MD for some reason. Or at least the ones I'm finding. Chambersburg is actually pretty close by. I couldn't find a website for them. Do you know what is costs to shoot there? Does it require a sponsor? What ranges they have (i.e. 100yd, 200yd, etc)?

Hi!

I don't have all the details off hand, and I don't think they have a web site. However, I'll dig up my freind's email address and send you a private message with his contact info.

I'm sure he'll answer all your questions.

It isn't a huge facility, but it is well maintained and pretty servicable. They've got a rifle range that I think has 50, 100, and 200 yd berms. The shooting positions are actually inside a building. Very safe, out of the weather. Nice benches. Then they have a large pistol range and three pistol bays which are just great for IDPA type competition.

Look for a PM from me with the info.

I'm also in WV (Harpers Ferry). There is a public range just outside of Frederick, MD but it's only open on weekends. I belong to the Monocacy Pistol Club (http://www.monocacypistolclub.com/), whose ranges are next to the public range. Except for .22 LR, our ranges are for pistols only. Scheduled matches are open to the public. PM me if you want more information.

Theres a gun club across the river from Shepardstown, WV. I noticed it while riding the C & O canal path but didnt have time to check it out or get the name that day. Its on canal road on the MD side of the river.

Hi, I'm in Martinsburg also ! Since Spark's closed the only commercial indoor range I know of is at Valley Guns II. It's a couple hundred bucks a year ( that was a year ago quote ) and You have to be a member of the NRA. Izzack Walton's near Clear Springs, Md on Independence Rd. has Pistol, rifle ( indoor .22 rifle ) and trap ranges ( nice club & good people, but it's Maryland ) . I would love to open a gun range here in Berkeley County as there is a need, but the lead exhaust and the insurance would kill it financially. Then there is Sleepy Creek range ( Which I now believe is shotgun only ). If You've ever shot a .22 at the dumps as a kid, You'll be familiar with the set-up there ( All shot to hell no range officer & bubba mall ninjas LOL ) Some day i would like to take the ride to the NRA Range in Va as I hear it's sweet . ...WVleo

Thanks for the info guys! I think the Chambersburg Pistol & Rifle Club may work, so I'm going to look into them.

Yeah, surprised that there isn't something near Martinsburg. I moved here just when Spark's closed, so never got to shoot there.
