Varmint and Super Varmint stocks don't look too diffent. I've wondered if there is a retrofit kit to convert the stock to adjustable cheekpiece. Google turned up dry. Any ideas?

Also, who has the least expensive 5rd 308 magazine?

I recently purchased a 6.5x55 Varmint in Stainless Steel and I was thinking the exact same thing! Have also tried google but no luck

It'll be interesting to see what comes back on the forum!

Didn’t know Beretta was importing a Tikka 6.5x55 varmint!?! Had seen the 223, 308 and 22-250, though. I am not familiar with it but with 6.5mm ballistics in a 55mm cartridge you should be getting 4000+fps at the muzzle and very flat trajectories! Sweet!

Have you de ciphered what type of bedding this stock has. I'm no expert but it seems like it is just aluminum reinforced synthetic polymer.

Checked if barrel is floating ok? Mine was fine. Have heard some complaints in that dept. Easy to fix, though.

@ pr787lv,

I'm British living in Norway, over here the 6.5x55 is the perfect allround caliber from birds to moose and the recoil, or should I say lack of it is perfect, you can keep your eye on the target after the shot. =)

Think your correct about the stock, but I have no problems with it and it is free floating very nicely. Over here with the harsh winters I prefer the laminate stocks, easier to look after and lighter!

Robertson Composites

Try this link, They are in the UK though

They have excellent stock. I dunno about Jackson rifles but Robetson Composites I think are located in New Zeland and have a sales office in Canada, but don't take my word for it. The problem is, as with al custom stocks, they cost more than the rifle and scope together. :p

I do nothing but drool over the RCS chassis system but again, over $1k.

I am content with a modifying my current stock, if I can. :)

That explains why I have not seen it in the US. :)

Old 308 has a bit of recoil and is not easy to maintain on target.:( I am getting a EGW compensator and threading the barrel, while keeping my fingers crossed. :D

Wait, your varmint rifle was built on a laminate stock? Wow! Mine is on a synthetic stock! They look kind of cheap. I prefer laminate over synthetic also but because of aesthetics.

The only bad thing about Tikka in the USA is Berreta USA, the importer. I have nothing but respect for Finnish guns.

Found out last night some Varmint 6.5x55 Swede have made it to the US market. Just made it to the top of the list of my next acquisition. Investigating dies & handload matl's availability. The Lapua Scenar 139gr .615 BC just looks too tempting.
