I just got my first leather holster and have no idea how to take care of it.

Am I supposed to do anything special to make it last or do I just use it till it wears out?

It didn't come with instructions on care.

My new holster from Simply Rugged came with a note about care. It said to use Kiwi Nuetral Shoe Polish on it for looks and colored shoe polish if the looks get messed up. So far I've yet to use anything on my holsters and they still look great!

Assuming it isn't a suede IWB model, the neutral color shoe polish as needed is good advice.

Do not use neatsfoot oil, saddle soap, bear grease, or other petroleum products that will soften it and make it lose it's shape.

If it is a quality, leather holster not much needs to be done with it. Using a slightly damp cloth to remove dirt is a good thing from time to time - but nothing else that could soften the leather. That's a bad thing.

I have found that using Kiwi neutral shoe polish really works well to preserve the leather and to keep the holster looking good. Here's a pic of my Simply Rugged Silver Dollar with nothing used but the Kiwi. Looks good to me.

For the record the gun is 3" S&W M60.
