To port or not to port? that is the question.

Listen to the fellas. They're right. I've gotten rid of my ported stuff, and most fellas I talk to agree with the guys in the forum. Porting is a cool idea. Good for competitors on a controlled range, w/ plenty of earplugs and gun muffs to go 'round for everyone. For the street, DON"T DO IT! Don Johnson is shooting blanks through his sexy looking ported 1911 on the Nash Bridges television show. INSIDE of a building alot of times, with no ear protectors. YEAH, RIGHT. That would be a cop who's deaf after the first shootout, and visibly shaken and disoriented from the noise. Years ago I built a ported 1911 to use in competition, and was out back on the farm, testing it for the first time. My dad comes up to me, and yells something to the effect of "WHAT is that? It sounds like you're shooting the .300 Win mag up here. That little thing made all that noise? Jees!"
Enuff said.
