There is no way to measure the sacrifice Americans made on this day 1944 (D-Day). Young boys from the age of 18 storming straight for machine guns knowing death is likely, knowing the Germans were in a superior position waiting for them fully loaded. Well I don’t know about all of you, but that gives me the chills just thinking about it and the hairs on my neck stand up as I type these words. In modern times such as these our country would never be forced to put our military in a position such as this. When that time came though back in 1944, the world needed soldiers, and those brave Americans showed the world what Americans are all about! Our government and Iraq deter our attention away from the good we have made, its days like this that we need to remember! Its days like this that bring us back together! Remember those brave Americans that gave us the luxery of doing what your doing right now. Honor them, for they gave their lives for us!
 
No one knows this better then veterans. Sacrifices were made on D day and throughout Theater. Those sacrifices didn't stop there. They went back home and some of those veterans recovered and carried on with their lives. Many didn't. To those who sacrificed to any extent I salute you from the bottom of my heart.

It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
