I finished repairing a TOZ Tula .22 lr model 78 and decided to shoot it to see if the rifle was working properly! Was using hollow points and the bolt wouldn’t be able to push the bullet, does it have bullet ramp to feed the bullet easy?
Thanks for all the help!

I have a Toz 78-01 that required some feed ramp modifications, while annoying this gun will out shoot any 22lr I have owned.
Might try the gunsmithing section here at the High Road.

Those stubby little feed "ramps" are probably catching the bullet try a round nose, specifically a cci. They tend to be...pointier, than some of the others.

Were it my gun id probably modify the ramps a bit...

Hello,
Could you upload a picture of your TOZ Tula inside the mechanism like the pictures I took, please?
Thanks.

If you look closely at the picture there is a shiny part that is the worn part of the two supposed ramps!
Could you upload pictures of yours?
Thanks!

Unfortunately i dont own one, i was simply commenting that id probably modify the ramps.

I don't own one of those rifles either, but my initial thoughts mirror Loonwolfs.

That's one of those guns where the magazine can assist as a feed ramp on the front edge, but your rifle's magazine is a tad low to do that. I'm not sure if that is normal for that gun or the magazine is lower than when the gun was new.

If it were my gun, I'd probably deburr/polish the small double sided feed ramp in the receiver and see if that improves things. I'd also try cycling the bolt with the magazine pressed in higher with the other hand to see how that works.

I have a couple of rimfire bolt guns where some bullet profiles just hang up easier than others. Usually just a quick and purposeful forward stroke of the bolt will drive the bullet into the chamber. Although, that usually means the bullet gets a ding or scrape in the lead in that process.

That sure looks like a dremel could do wonders to help your problem. Before you go to modifying it though I would do as suggested and manipulate the mag to see if it helps. And definitely try some different bullet profiles.

You were completely right! When I have a gun problem I can not even sleep, God helped me and I did exactly that this morning, actually melted the magazine and filed it a little bit lower, for the Mag to go up! That worked perfectly!
Thanks guys for your awesome suggestions:)

It's all coming back to me, the feed ramp only needed minor polishing on my TOZ 78-01 the real issue was with the bolt extractors that were to tight for some 22lr ammo bases.
The mod that cured the feeding issue in my 78-01 had more to do the bolt extractors than the feed ramp, my rifle has two.
Sorry I can't seem to post a pic here anymore.
