. . . a Glock 26?

So I'm new here an somewhat a novice when i comes to handguns. However, I have owned a Springfield UC (high capacity) for a few months now. It's a great shooter . . . when it it can feed a round!!! Yup, a gagillion FTF's and quite a few FTE's later I am a bit disgusted with my SA. Now, I do know these compact 1911's can be finicky and it does seem to be smoothing out as I shoot more ammo. However, based on what I see; I'm looking at 300 - 500 more rounds to break in, and perhaps another 300 - 500 before I would be confident with this firearm. I bought this gun based on a co-workers recommendations . . . I was really a novice then.

Now I don't intend that this be a 1911 or SA bashing thread. Like I said this little 45 shoots very nice (when it feeds) and gotta love that trigger. That's why someday I'll get another one. However, right now I just don't want to invest in this one any further. And I just don't have $1000+ for that beautiful EMP.

Once I decided to trade the SA . . . immediately I thought "Glock." However, after hearing about the S&W M&P, I began to look here as well. Now I have a list of guns (for CCW) to look at . . . perhaps the CZ P01 or something from Beretta as well.

Now after looking at the M&P I thought this is it. However, I'm not getting a warm fuzzy from some of the complaints on mag release issues and some FTF's on the 9c. I just don't want to trade one problem for another.

While I realize that no firearm is perfect and that all can/will fail at some point; my tolerance for a gun that fails right out of the box is quite low at this time.

Unfortunately I will not be able to shoot these guns before I buy.

So the questions: Has S&W corrected the early problems with the M&P 9c?

I have held both the M&P and Glock 26 . . . could go with either. The Glock will run around a $100 more (S&W offering a $50 rebate).

I'm leaning towards the 26 . . . anyone wanna talk me into the M&P? Anyone . . .

Thanks.
