I was most familiar with Traditions as an importer of muzzloaders and of cap and ball revolvers, but Traditions has begun importing a replica of Colt's Single Action Army revolver. But this is a replica with a twist.

Traditions' SAA is equipped with a Ruger style, transfer bar safety. This feature will allow you to load all six chambers and safely carry the gun.

Personally I feel fine with the traditional approach of only loading five chambers, but others may feel differently. Either way it is a nice SAA clone.

I think a transfer bar would be a good idea on a Colt. :) I own several revolvers that are not unlike the Colts in the sense that they don't have any way to safely carry all chambers loaded. I live dangerously and park my firing pin between two rounds, put er' in some leather for carry. But I could see why you'd want that extra shot plus the added safety.

Those Colt Cowboys would have done better if they had been a bit less pricey.

When the Cowboys came out they cost over $600. The EAA Big Bore Bounty Hunter, with the same exact lockwork cost only $250 at the time.

Considering the Cowboys were mostly made in the Czech republic, I think Colt figured their name rated double the price.

I know a couple of guys who own them and like them, but they got theirs on the used market for under $400.
