The issue for me has never been just guns, it is freedom.

Another person posted about problems with Virginia traffic tickets, I did a qucik check on the net at the national motorist association and some other sites and have concluded we need to look at just more than our guns.

Having too many traffic tickets here in California would be grounds for some sheriffs not to issue you a ccw permit even though it isn't in the statues.

We read about what has happened in England and Australia with guns.
Their traffic laws are becoming just as bad.

I talked with people I met from both England and Australia. Both countries have photo speed enforcement and most people drive 5 under the limit.

To add insult, their limits are in kph, not mph. That means 10mph is 16kph and that is a big deal.

Their government wants to put GPS systems in all cars so the government can know where you are, where you went, even to the point of using GPS to control how fast your vehicle will go on any given road.

Basically their attitude toward their government was that they accepted that the government was their master. Definitely a cultural difference.

Most people here think it is reasonable to have traffic laws for safety, but using speed traps for revenue ehnhancement is something most people here in the US are instinctively against.

Those who support it do so until they get their first ticket then they scream how unfair the system is. Of course people in places not San Fran, New York, Chicago and a few other urban areas who don't drive may support such an idea, after all, traffic laws don't apply to those who don't drive.

What I notice is those who support such revenue enhancement generally support violation of our gun rights.

Most people drive cars and while gun rights may not be a high priority issue for them, traffic is another issue.

The reality is most people drive 5 to 15 mph over the posted limits. Most speed limits, especially on highways, are artifically low.

If highway speed limits were set based on traffic flow using the 85 percentile mode, most speed limits would probaly be around 75 to 85mph.

Dishonest politicians use devious means to fund their pet projects because they if they presented what they wanted to spend the money on directly to the publlic, the public would say no.

In many areas we can't take out anti gunners on the gun issue alone because we just don't have the resources.

I am sure there are other areas we could network with, but here is an example of where we could start expanding our influence to beyond just guns.

Right now motorists rights groups are not as well established as gun groups.
This gives us an opportunity to get into leadership positions.

This is something that could also branch to taxpayer rights groups since this is a defacto tax.

Of course the Insurance companies and companies who make remoter speed equipment would not be happy with us, but hey, both groups of companies have real low public approval anyway.

The issue is not guns, it is freedom
