I accepted an 8 week contract positon working as a Medical Laboratory Technican in New Hamshire. I've taken to the "Traveler" profession and I'd like to bring along at least a few of my guns with me.

Are there any specifics that I should know about being an out of state resident with firearms? Or should I just leave them home and not deal with the aggrivation?

And search thehighroad for tips on airlines and traveing with firearms.

I think one is avoid any connecting flight through New York.

And print out the regs for the airline and TSA to handcarry with you because you may need to educate the ticket agent or some TSA folks.

I travel with arms all the time.

Typically, I visit packing.org, and the nraila gun law sight to scan for gotchas in the state of destination.

Sometimes, it affects my choice of arms, typically for states that get the heebie jeebies around handguns or "Assault weapons", and a very few states rule out armed nonresidents entirely for all practical purposes. (NJ comes to mind. You can travel there armed for shooting events, but there's no exemption I could find for business or personal trips)

Then I pack them appropriately in my trunk in accordance with federal peacable travel, lock my trunk, and carry on without worries.

NH is the most progun state in the North East

If you have a carry permit from any other state, you can get a non-resident ccw in NH in about a week. Easy and cheap. It can all be done thru the mail.

What Seacamp said, costs $20, here's the application, fill it out, make a copy of your CHP and send with fee to NH State Police.

NH allows open carry. Any firearms are allowed. Bring your guns use them responsibility and have fun. Permit is only needed for loaded concealed handgun. No permits are needed for any other firearm.
