Saigas seem relatively unaffected by the Obamanoia and mad rush to spend (despite their being far more vulnerable, as imported guns), so I figure now might be a good time to buy.

I like the Dragunov look, and though I know it'd be a pale copy it'd be fun to dress a 20" .223 Saiga up with Drag-like furniture to make a little mini-Drag. Yes, I'm completely aware that Drags don't use the AK action, and aren't in .223, but I'm just happy with a vague similarity and improved ergonomics.

I'm aware that it is possible to covert Saigas to take AK furniture yourself, but honestly I'm low-skill and have a good job, so I'd rather just commission a gunsmith to do a good high-quality conversion and other tweaks (improved trigger and internals) for me. Tromix is overbooked to the "don't bother calling us" point. Any idea who else can do a good basic de-sporterising Saiga conversion on my rifle?

There is a great place in Ft. Myers, Florida called Don's GunShop, 239-334-6779. Does all kinds of custom builds, Saiga conversions, has piles of parts. He'll build you whatever you want. Then again, there's always Krebs Customs, may have something already done and ready to go.

FBMG in Utah does them, too. 2 month wait, last time I checked.

Cadiz Gun Works is almost caught up with their conversion orders. Also they are the only official warranty provider for RAA (Saiga). Go over to forums.saiga-12.com for a listing of many respected Saiga smiths.
