Try to see if my wife can handle a .357 round

The Remington 125 grain Golden Saber is a light .357 load. It's listed at 1220 fps versus 1450 for their other 125 grain loads. It's what I carry in my 3" M66.

I would get some 125 grain JHPs and reload to a point in the middle of the range from .38+P and .357Mag. I did it for my wife and she LOVES shooting my .357 "MinusMags"

AirForce', go back and read the first post and the reply he gives at around post #5 or 6. She WANTS to try them. He's just trying to help her out a bit to help her avoid the recoil impact.

Gmh', she can always go back to the +P so there's no harm done by letting her experience the full meal deal. At this point it seems like she's actually enjoying the shooting experience rather than tolerating it as a self defense practice and wants to sort of test herself and maybe enjoy a bit of the "OMG" factor that makes a hobby shooter laugh at the range. In that case why hold back other than maybe selecting one of the slightly heavier bullet weight options to help lessen the smack? Let her have her giggles and experience the wide eyed shock that comes from seeing what the power of a full house round is really like. If you want to lighten the recoil see if you can borrow or get a longer barrel and bigger frame gun to help soak it up.

Now after seeing what the full house rounds do THEN she can choose to go back to the +P for carry or as a regular practice round or even look at reloading something that is tailor made to suit her. But let her have the anticipation and, yes, that bit of fear and shoot her first full house .357...... if you're really worried just load one in case it shocks her and she drops it.... :D

Full on .357 from a small barrel is a HEAP of fun. The thump to the hand, the big ol' ball of flame out the sides from the gap and out the end of the short barrel along with the HUGE FAT BANG is enough to give a person a real hankerin' for a big slab of rare red meat.... :D

she should be able to shoot .357 magnums just fine.... i always thought .357 magnum was a hellauva round to shoot too until i got mixed up in ihmsa..... some of the handguns some of these guys use to shoot steel critters at 200 yards are amazing!! like lighting off a .444 marlin round from a tc contender!! the recoil will make a guy see god!! for a factory load i'd get 125 gr bullets and for reloads i'd use 150 gr swcs over 5 grs. of bullseye.......

LIFE IS SHORT.....

If she doesn't have arthritis or carpal tunnel or any other physical impediment, just get her the .357's and let her have fun. What's the problem?

Mind you, +P's are a tad much for me anymore out of my snubbie, but my rheumatoid arthritis is slowly winning the battle for my hand joints. But only a couple of years ago I was gleefully shooting full house .44mags (out of a long barrelled SRH, true, but still....) and having a blast (literally!) doing it.

Give her what she asked for and just double up on your ears. Not for the .357's. For the "YEEHAW"s to follow :D:D:D

Sounds like he could even call it foreplay if he plays his cards right. :)

Don't buy a whole box of 357s. My prediction, like others before me, is it will fall into the category of "it seemed like a good idea........"

Don't know where you buy your ammo, but my suppliers don't sell by the slice....

:neener:

So to borrow and paraphrase from the radio hockey game coverage.... "SHE SHOOTS!! HE SCORES! ! ! ! !".

BAD BCRider. Bad, bad, bad. :neener::neener::neener:

HEY, is it any worse than her dressing in something frilly and serving up a chilled bottle of bubbly? Or him dressing up nicely for a change and taking her out somewhere nice for dinner and maybe a stage show after? Seems to me like as far as makeout encouragements go a box of .357 is pretty cheap all in all....

Or was it just my bad attempt at humour? :p LOL

And a full box of .357 in a .357 gun owning household will NEVER go to waste. Even if you just shoot a few rounds for giggles at the end of each range session it can really help to end the session with grins all around and a desire for a nice big slab of rare red meat.... :D
