I recall much ado about the radius of that little offending piece commonly called the firing pin stop. And its relation to the radius and recoil function of the slide. Mine on my SA shorty looks like it was radiused with a hacksaw. Will need proper specs for the new stop that I need to purchase or if mine can if fact be saved.

Specs

Hey Riss,

The nominal (spec) radius on your stop is 7/32nds. Depending on how short your shorty is...I don't know if I'd go with the small radius. I just had a round with a SA Micro and had to go in the opposite direction in order to get it to stop short-stroking by using a larger radius and a high contact point with the hammer. If you opt for it, the small radius is nominally .078 inch,
but mine are probably about a 16th. The EGW FP stop comes dead square, and you can cut whatever radius suits your gun.

Yours can probably be saved by swiping it on a medium stone and following the established radius. If it's really rough, swipe it on a smooth mill file until it starts to look good, and finish it on the stone. Remember that the file only cuts in one direction. Pull the part from the front toward the rear. Go easy...
It'll cut faster than you think it will.

It would seem that the parts inspector was having a bad day ... :cuss:  :D

Ya', I think HD had a point, and so has anyone else who goes in harm's way and stakes his or her life on a pistol that only works part of the time - or under perfect conditions.

I was looking at GunBroker.com today and came across this pistol. It was a .45, made in Germany, with a polybubble frame and a steel slide with the internal parts held together with roll-pins. Asking price was ... $1,200.00 :what:

Now this isn't my cup of tea (or turbocofee), but I have to admit that it shoots, come that well-known-hot-place or high water.

My old Colts will do the same, as will your's. Yet these modern makers can't seem to cut the mustard - not even the basics - like a clean radius on the firing pin stop.

"Made in America" used to mean something ... Now I don't know. :scrutiny: :uhoh:

problem was the dammd fpsp was .466 wide ...

dammd extractor would cock between 5-12* left when assembled ...
nit goot...
new fpsp was 478-480? squared up nice ...ist goot , ya ?
one more reason to but a sig...
