It has told to me that the .30 Carbine Blackhawk is unsuited for cast bullets because of its relatively slow twist rate: 1:20" RH. I've also seen many posting about using cast bullets with the .30 Carbine Blackhawk with very positive results.

Where's the truth lie here?

I think a lead bullet would be fine. Order a sample pack and try it, is the only way to know.

I don't think twist rate has anything to do with cast bullets. What you were told seems like bad advice to me.

The M1 Carbine has the same 1:20 twist rate as the Blackhawk. That's standard for the .30 Carbine cartridge.
Millions of us have been casting our own lead bullets for M1 Carbines for a half a century. They shoot perfectly.

Unless there's something in the universe I don't know, the persons who told you that are probably mistaken.
Buy the bullets of your choice, load them and shoot. You'll be pleased. Nice handgun, jski.
