Are either of these a good buy?

USED Para Ordnance P7 LDA $550.00

USED Para-Ordnance 14.45 LDA $525.00

Let me know what you think and if these prices are competitive.

Thanks

Denmark.

I already have a Sig 229, and I am looking to add a 1911 to my collection.

However, price is a major concern....

They do have some of the new polymer Kimber double stacks under 600 (but not by much...)

Get the p14, if it's not to old (I wouldnt buy a first gen), then ask someone who has actually shot thousands of rounds through a para with no problems and isn't still living with the belief of a past quality problem with soft steel. If their guns were as crappy as people believe them to be, you think they'd still be in business?
Would Paras would be one of the top three manufacturers used in USPSA competition if they were junk?
a Sig? You'll never get accuracy or a trigger as nice as you can get in that p14 with a sig.

I put cream in my coffee. I don't take it black because my friends do. I would JUMP on the P14-45!! See if it is in good shape and unabused though. It is a steal at that price. You should still try for a 10 % discount.

Para

I had a Para 14-45 LDA that was so so on accuracy for a 5" barrel. Not that I shoot competition but I do hit what I aim at. I traded the 14-45 for the new 12-45 LDA for carry. What a huge mistake. This short barrel 45 was a continueous jam-o-matic and was real picky about the factory ammo it would eat. Sure didn't like Golden Sabers at all. Swapped this unworthy piece for a Wilson KZ and have never looked back. My primary carry is a Sig 239 in 357 Sig. My next purchase will be a Sig 220. Can the Para IMHO.

I have a P13. I paid $450 for it and it was nearly new when I found it. The only trouble it's given me was with the 10 round neutered mags. Both the prices you quote are very good as new LDAs (and I've been pricing them as of late) are running in the $700-800 range. A dealer I frequent has a 7-shot LDA like you ask about in the case brand new for $770. I'm chewing on a Tac-four one of favorite dealers has in the case right now for $730. I'd like to have either of these but this is far too much for these guns (ok, to be honest, there's a good chance the Tac-four will be mine shortly). If it's in good shape, I'd get one. You just have to decide if the grip fits you. Keep in mind also, that these 14 round all steel guns are very heavy when loaded - if you plan to carry it concealed. I see so few of these things used, but $200 less than retail seems very good (assuming it hasn't been shot a whole heck of a lot).

If price is a concern, I would go with a Springfield Mil Spec 1911. I bought one new for $369 about 2 months ago. Its one helluva gun for that price, you wont be sorry.

Rock solid gun. Mine is 100% reliable. As accurate as other service pistols. What more could you ask for, for that price?

I bought a used Colt Combat Elite for $500 and a new Dan Wesson PM7-S for $550. New Colt 1991's are about $550.

If you're looking for a 1911, buy a 1911. Not some kind of high-cap hybrid.

Mattjoe................."a Sig? You'll never get accuracy or a trigger as nice as you can get in that p14 with a sig."

Compared to the 220/220 ST.......even the PO's that have been sent back for the barrel replacements to PO would be hard pressed to match these guns for accuracy.

The reason they are the 3rd most selling gun for IDPA is they were the first to offer a Hi Cap 45.......the basis for a completely reworked, read as "very few PO parts left in it, Unlimited gun.

Dont get me wrong Im not slamming PO....but Ill NEVER slam a 220 either.
They are as accurate as they get....................

Shoot well.

I have nothing against Para pistols and have owned two that were more or less flawless. But I don't like the LDA triggers myself.

If I didn't own a 1911 and I wanted one, I'd get either a Springfield MilSpec or a NRM Colt for a few dollars more. I think I paid $500 for my NRM Colt and $440 for the last 45ACP Springfield MilSpec I bought... both brand spankin' new.
