howdy all,

as stated above i have a few questions regarding Enfield rifles. i have a Savage built No4 Mk1* and i would like to do a few things to make it more "Me and my wife, friendly", specificly i plan to change out the buttstock and put on one of the milled Micrometer type sights.

the things i want to know are,

1. is there an easy way to tell which buttstock will fit a particular person best, WITHOUT having that stock on the gun? ie is there a way to measure say from the inside of the elbow to the tip of the trigger finger and say "ah it came up between these two marks, that means i need a standard/short/bantam stock"??

2. what is the LOWEST setting (shortest distance) marked on the micrometer of the milled micrometer sight for the No4 Mk1?? i plan on getting one regardless it just would be nice to know if say the bottom setting is 100meters or 400.....

well as always thank you for your time and your replies. all info is welcome and appreciated.

On your first question, enfield buttstocks came in 4 lengths. Bantam, Short, Regular and Long.

Not close to my reference stuff, but I believe Bantam is the shortest and will be marked with a "B" at the heel.

Brian Dick at BDL has short buttstocks for sale, and Springfield Sporters will too.

Good luck.
