heard a radio report at 330am this morning of a house break in where the homeowner came home & shot the perp. No details of what happened, except "Police were trying to determine how the homeowner got the gun". Read later he wrestled it away from him during a scuffle. Whether the initial radio report was gramatically clumsy, it still made it sound like the homeowner was the crook. What do you expect. I work here, but live 40 miles away. Only here for the money. :)

True. Only in Kali would you see a situation where a homeowner, injured by a criminal whom he fights back against and kills, be villified and thrown in jail, while there would be candlelight vigils for the misunderstood repeat offender. :fire:

Not necessarily an actual event, but can anyone here contradict it?
 
california is not hte birthplace for sheeple its the meeting grounds for sheeple. its the liberals that moved in and took over.
 
This is probably why the homeowner is being charged:

"Williams [the homeowner] confronted the alleged burglar at the front door of his apartment. The suspect pulled the gun. As the men struggled for the weapon down a flight of stairs, shots were fired several times.

"The gun landed on the sidewalk. Williams picked up the gun, which he claims went off by accident, Oropeza said. He chased and fired at the suspect for a half-block, before the alleged burglar fell at the corner of Scott and Fell streets. Williams held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

"By shooting at the alleged burglar who was running away, Williams was no longer acting in self defense, [Officer] Oropeza said."

Slingster- has it correct; I thought it was a rightous shoot and overzealous LEO action until I came to the part where the homeowner chased and then shot at him while the BG was fleeing. As soon as the homeowner gave chase, he lost all credible self-defense justification.

Sucks, but he wasn't in imminent danger and he's going to pay for it big time.
 
California's use-of-force laws aren't bad, but they do specify that once the perp halts all aggression (puts hands in the air, lies down, starts running away) he is no longer an assailant and cannot be harmed without criminal repercussions. Unfortunate that Williams shot him, but at least the criminal isn't dead (yeah, i said it) or he'd be facing charges that are much, much worse.

To their credit, the news last night quoted someone in the SFPD as saying that they'd be unlikely to get a conviction. I assume they're going to try anyway :barf:

Since it was the perp's gun the homeowner used, it wa probably a POS. Mebbe it took several shots to get it zeroed in. :D

Not trying to turn this into a religous debate, but Kali Ma is more than just a deity of death and destruction. She is also one of creation and birth.

I'm not Hindu, but one of my deities often gets a bad rap by those who do not know him well, so I have to speak out for others who get similar treatment.

As for the shooter under discusion. I understand completly why he did what he did. His home had been violated by this creep. I don't condone it though, and from what I understand of California law, he DID violate that law by giving chase and shooting the creep. He should be tried and let a jury of his peers decide. And or as CWatson said, practice more.

Until we have the facts, that's a pretty pathetic statement. From reports out now, it appears the ONLY shots fired were from the homeowner and not by the criminal.

The right to keep and bear arms and to self defense is NOT the right to punish.

Happens every time in the UK.
In fact, if you do anything other than sit quietly & lett the crook do whatever he/she wants & take whatever he/she wants, you could be looking at some prison time...:barf:
