Ok, guys, I hope I don't stir up a hornet's next here, but I'm curious to know which of these is the better product, and WHY, preferably based upon scientific evidence, field test trials, or supported, reasoned, personal experience.

It's all a bit confusing.

Militec claims to be the best lubricant and protector on the market, and will actually "become a part of the metal" when observing their applicaiton process.

FP10 claims to be the ultimate CLP, and will remove copper, fouling, and will lube and protect.

FWIW, I'm a bit skeptical of products that claim to be all things to all people, by doing everything equally well. Seems to me that a Pickup shoudln't ber taking hairpin turns, and a Porsche shouldn't be hauling horse manure.

Thanks!

Hi Rovert, This topic has been beaten time after time. You can use the search function to make an educated guess. Also search
www.thefiringline.com and www.1911forum.com. They both will have extensive threads concerning lubricants and preferences by many experienced shooters. Myself, I use both, but for different applications and I also use other products not related to either.
Good Luck and happy huntin' !

i hate the bottle that FP10 comes in. half of it runs down the side and is wasted. CLP/Breakfree gives me bad USMC bootcamp flash backs. the mere smell of it throws me into violent fits.
i use the wilson universal in the syringe. great stuff and lasts twice as long as anything i have found. also you use much less so lint and the like is reduced greatly.

any lube intended for firearms use will work fine, i've never met a lube that didn't work. the only difference i can tell is how fast they evaporate.

i use FP-10, it seems to lube well and not evaporate for 4-6 weeks. i also have break free with the same results. the only reason i use FP-10 is i don't have to shake the bottle and their is no white stuff in it. clp's lube well but leave a little to be desired in the cleaning department.

militec worked well too, but was too thick coming out of my needle oiler.

FP10 user here. I agree that the bottles are kinda... well... Let's just say it's a good lube. I use a little dispenser I got from Brownells.

Remember 3 in 1 Oil.....that was OK for my daddys 45 in 1959...red and white can..mom used it on her sewing machine..

I know some that still use that red and white can, all the money they save on uberlubes must go for guns and ammo :p

Rovert: I don't use either one, regardless of what a link may have said at that time by me . I made a mistake, not the first, probably won't be the last I make either.

Your maint. and inspect routine for your particular needs is what counts. What lube fits your needs--use that one.
