I have an Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt, and have a new loading gate spring to install. Not sure if the old one's bad, but the gate doesn't stay closed all the way, and the spring was cheap.

Anyway, I can't find any instructions on the 'net on how to do this. Can anyone point me to a tutorial or something to tell/show me how? I'm sure it's pretty simple, but I'd like some guidelines first.

I had a YouTube video for this bookmarked, but that's gone now.

Thanks!

Be aware that some of the Uberti's use a tiny coil spring and plunger held in place by the grip frame on the left rear side of the frame.

(Instead of the traditional flat spring attached to the hand.)

Best take it apart over a white cotton towel to catch anything like that.

And pay real close attention when you let the grip frame come back off the frame.

All done, piece of cake! Thanks! I didn't want to just start twisting screws, not with my luck.

Example of my luck -
1. Nothing wrong with old spring, the screw had just backed out a tad. Turned it in, all is good now. I would have just installed the new spring, but....

2. The new spring was larger in diameter and longer than the old one. New spring wouldn't even go in the hole. Also a full coil too long.
