I am new to this site and would like some advice. I would like to complete a Remington M40 build. I would like to make it as original/authentic as possible. I have a 1966 SN receiver, the stock, and the Redfield scope (marked 1 inch tube). I found this barrel and would like to know if I should jump on it. Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

JMHO but there is no way that barrel is worth $950. You could have a Bartlein/Tooley barrel made to M40 Specs for less money and would shoot much better. Call Remington up, they are desperate for cash. They might have one they will sell you for less money. $950 dollars for a used barrel even if its and M40 barrel is crazy. YMMV

I guess if you wasn’t as close to original as possible that is a good contender.

Do you want to shoot the gun though? If so, I would be leery about how shot out this barrel is for 950.

Thanks for both options. Barrel is supposed to be in great shape and seller has an A+ rating. I think I’ll try and bid on it... saw one back in 2013 sell for over $1000.00. We’ll see. Thank you both again for your opinions, it means a lot.
