Last Saturday was UDPL's first man-v-man event and it was a lot of fun. I sucked, but it was still fun. I think I won about 5 or maybe 6 out of 12-15 matchups on the 3 stages. I can't remember for sure and I didn't get footage of a few because it was raining too hard for some and I didn't want to swamp my camera.

I had some trouble with first round light primer strikes (SIG P226 SA/DA) in double action, which potentially cost me a couple of strings (not that I would have beaten the other guy anyway). I think I need a fresh mainspring. Because of that I switched to my backup gun for one stage, a Dan Wesson 1911, which turned out to be a mistake because I overestimated my ability to hit 6 plates with 10 shots :D:banghead: and ran out of ammo twice. So I switched back to the SIG and did better on the plate rack stage, but still pretty much failed.

The registration email sent out estimated approximately 200 rounds IF you made it to the final stages, but about half of the attendees had run out of ammo by the end. Next time I'm bringing a thousand rounds. LOL

I'm not sure what rattled me so badly. I imagine it was the sound of the other guy's plates falling so quickly, which made me try to speed up, which made me miss more. It was enlightening in any case. :) It made me want to get a race holster and a race gun and way more skill.:D

Video for those interested.

I gotta make it down to a UDPL event sometime.. Haha.
Thanks for posting! It was interesting to hear about

Our first man on man was three eight inch steel plates, just to get used to it and guys still shot their guns dry,

I love man-on-man, but your handicap system kind of kills it for me.
It is supposed to be man-on-man, not man-on-handicapped-man-so-everyone-has-an-equal-chance.
Your video is cool though! :)

That was my thought too. Why spend time practicing and getting good if the game attempts to nullify your advantage in skill?

Remove that though and I think it would be an interesting exercise.

They divided people into three "divisions" if that matters (people of roughly similar skill level/IDPA or USPSA class), and then the handicap was supposed to help equalize the race guns from the stock guns, etc.
