So I submit Form 1 for an SBR a few days ago. I SWEAR I checked this thing 100 times. Today I'm looking at it again and I notice I made a typo on the model # in box 4d.

:banghead::banghead::banghead:

It's a Yankee Hill Machine lower and I incorrectly listed YMH-15 instead of YHM-15 as the model number.

Serial number / everything else was correct.

What's the procedure for a correction? I'm sure that I'm not the first one to make a mistake on a Form 1.

Is there such a thing as a "clarification letter?"

Do I withdraw the application and start over?

Any thoughts or comments (besides calling me a idiot and / or making me feel worse) would be appreciated.

I would just call up the NFA part of the BATFE at 1-304-616-4500, and explain to them what happened. They could tell you right away what you need to do. That way you aren't just sitting around for weeks or months wondering if it will go through or not. This is the same number you can call any time to check the status of you application.

Don't feel too bad; I always worry I'll do the same thing every time I send in a Form 1 or 4. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply and the phone number . I sent them a letter, but I will follow up with a phone call also in about a week or so.

My letter was as follows:

Dear Sirs or Madams:

The above corporation recently submitted ATF Form 1 (5320.1) in connection with the making of a short barrel rifle. A copy of that application is attached to this letter.

Please be advised that this application contains a typographical error.

Box 4d lists the model number as YMH-15.

The correct model number which should have been listed in box 4d is YHM-15.

Please advise as to the proper way to fix this typographical error.

If this correction process requires a withdrawal and resubmission, I will submit a separate letter requesting same.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused in connection with this error.

Thank you very much for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,

I think that should be fine along with the call in a week or so. They were very friendly and helpful when I called about a possible fingerprint problem. I forgot to mention, you will need to give them the serial number in order for them to look up your application.

...you will need to give them the serial number

Thank goodness at least I listed that correctly on the Form 1, lol.

BTW, I did put the serial # in the re: section of the letter, so hopefully they will match the letter with the actual application.

Thanks again for your advice.

If they caught it, they would send it back to you for correction.
Once they received the corrected form, your stamp would/will go out very quickly.
I suspect that you will have your form returned to you for correction, letter or no.

I had one that I printed off a pdf file that was missing a huge chunk of required info when printed; of course I sent it in....
They sent it back with the needed corrections clearly marked, and a blank form to send back.
The hand-written one I have with the stamp is not nearly as pretty as the computer printed one would have been, but it is functional...

I don't get all atwitter dealing with the federalies.

Good Luck!
