Unconventional Deer Hunting Tactics?

I have on multiple occasion carried something to the field simply to be an attention grabber. My favorite is a coyote hunting flappy ball of fur. It flops around and makes just enough noise to get a deers attention. They focus on that and try to slip around the edge of the field while maintaining a heavy focus on it, I have had good success with this. I once used a Walmart bag tied to a tree limb. It’s so small that it doesn’t spook them, it just makes them nervous enough to focus on it.

THAT is SHARP! I'd a never thought of that!

I did see a guy goose hunting about two miles away from a "planned community" with a huge lake, that was full of geese. He figured the geese he was after in the corn fields came off that lake, so...., Instead of spreading out goose decoys in a large pattern, he took about 8 and put them into a < in a tight group, and he stood at the point of the vee facing the decoys, his shotgun on a special sling by his side. Then when he saw geese in the distance, he'd start calling, and start moving his hands as though he was throwing something to the geese in front of him on the ground. Sure enough the geese in the sky thought the guy in the field moving his hand was feeding the geese (actually decoys) and so they dropped down to get some too. (They probaby got fed on a regular basis by the suburbanites nearby) Now he wasn't actually throwing corn, he was just motioning like he was doing so. They'd come in, flare, to land, and he'd open up on them while they were still on-the-wing. He limited out two days in a row then stopped. Freezer was too full. ;)

OK so not a deer story, but heck maybe folks here hunt geese too ??? o_O
