The Pennsylvania based airline USA 3000 has banned all transportation of firearms and ammunition in passengers baggage-even checked baggage. One thing to note, the NRA got the phone number for the airline wrong. Interested parties should dial 1-877-872-3000, not 1-800-872-3000.

Also, for those flying to Canada, Air Canada now considers checked-on firearms as "hazardous goods", the carriage of which will cost an extra $50.00 each way.

This amount might not be large, however some might think the principle is.
 
I am not surprised. This is probably the begining of a trend. I don't necessarily think Airlines are doing this as an Anti-Gun measure. It's about economics IMO. Just another way to tag an extra charge on to the price of a ticket.

A littel extreme for most of us.

"All the more reason to get your pilots license and fly yourself and avoid all the craziness."


I'll just continue to avoid flying as much as possible.
 
I can drive pretty much where ever I want to go, and the scenery is better, plus I can have more time away from work.
 
+1 on driving.
I went to Hawaii this spring for a friend's wedding and had to fly for the first time in a long time (and first time since I started carrying 24/7). I truly felt like a defenseless sheep being herded into a flying cattle trailer, trusting my safety to the lady wearing a shirt that said TSA who can't tell a blackberry from a WMD.

That might apply to Air Canada, the extra fee. I wonder as to what goes on with US Air.

Seems as if they have sufficient problems without annoying potential customers.
