I was prepping some 9mm brass that I picked up at the range and came across some with F.C. NT and Win. NT. I load with Federal and Winchester brass all the time, but have never seen any with the NT on them. It gets better though because the F.C. NT brass has a much larger flash hole. Anyone know the story with this stuff, and is it loaded with any different considerations?
Thanks

Nt means non toxic. It's just a mercury free primer and a non lead projectile a "green" bullet. The brass is the same, loads fine. Most 45 you find nt is small primer, infect all I've found in 45 is small pp

There hasn't been any mercury in primers since before World War II. The Non-Toxic primers contain a lead free priming compound. Standard primers contain lead styphnate.

If you'll do a search on large flash holes, small primers in .45 acp and crimped NT primers, you'll come up with enough threads on this subject to keep you busy for hours just reading through them.

Hope this helps.

Fred

For everything other than .45ACP, I just load them as normal. For .45ACP, I put them aside with other SPP brass. I don't currently load SPP .45ACP brass because I don't want to have to change the priming mechanism. When I start loading 9mm Luger & 40 S&W, then I'll use them when I do the occassional switch over.
