Anyone have any info on a 12 ga., damascus, rabbit eared shotgun made by Union Machine Tool? My dealer has one for sale. Kinda neat wall hanger. I've never heard of them.

I don't have any specific info on these shotguns, but it was very common in the late 19th and early 20th century that companies making inexpensive shorguns would stamp a run of guns with any brand name desired. Some were built in this country and some in Europe. Crescent Arms was a company in the US that did a lot of this. If it is truly damascus steel, do not even think of shooting it, or at least make me the beneficiary of your will. There is a good chance that it is not really damascus, as damasus steel was considered to be superior at the time and cheaper gunes were sometimes patterned to look like damascus.
I do remember something about Union Machine Tool guns being built by Crescent.

Funny you should mention them. I was researching a Crescent Arms .410 double for a friend, and came across a listing of all the different companies that they made private label guns (often know as hardware guns, as many were sold in hardware stores) for, and there were over 100 different ones!

Crescent Arms merged with someone (Davis? something in 1929) and was bought by Savage (IIRC) in 1931.
