So I made some 240 gr. Deepcurl loads with ~9.3 gr. Unique and they turned out well in my 4" Taurus Tracker.

Now I just can't find the proper info on a starting load for 270 gr. jacketed (still Deepcurls) using Unique. These will also be used in the Taurus as well as a 7.5" Super Blackhawk. The end goal is ~900-1k fps loads that are easy on the wrist.

Closest I found was http://www.reloadammo.com/44loads.htm for 265 gr., and those are max. Is 5 grains of bullet little enough difference that I can drop a full grain and use 8.3 gr. Unique, since Lee's loads for the 240 were 9.3-10.3 gr.? Guess I'm more worried about going too low in grains than high, and I don't fully understand the pressure differences that necessitate less powder for larger bullets.

"...Lee's loads..." Lee gets their data from other sources. Usually the powder maker. They do no testing themselves.
"...those are max..." Just reduce by 10% and work up. 8.3 is 10% less. And no, 5 grains won't matter much. You will notice the felt recoil though. It's physics.
You may want to think about a different powder. There's one 270 grain load on Reloader's Nest. Uses Lil'gun and it's a lot faster than 1,000 fps.

I would try some 2400. I get decent groups with that bullet and 2400 out of a 5.5" Ruger SBH.
