Does W231 meter better than Unique in the Lee Pro disk powder measure?

I ask cause I am going to make a large powder purchase and unique has been a good choice for me for 45ACP, 9mm and 40 S&W but I do find that it meters inconsistantly. I am looking for what may be a better alternative.

Thanks folks

Bullseye meters better than all of them. My recollection is that W231 is a ball powder, and then it is rolled flat. So it should "meter" better than Unique, with its large discs.

You would be hard pressed to find any powders that are more flexible than Unique or W231. Personnally, I prefer Unique in large cases, Bullseye in small, and and am using up the last of my W231 in the 45 ACP.

I believe it will meter better, but can't state it for a known fact as I don't have that powder measure.w231 does meter nicely in my Dillon measure,a bit better than Unique does.

W231/HP38 do (in my experience) meter better than Unique. W231/HP38 is just fine for all the calibers you have listed. I am using HP38 since it's darn near the same thing as W231 and is a little less expensive.

If I am using any type of auto powder measure, I try like heck to use ball type powder. Any other kind I use my Pact hi speed dispenser and digital scale. Unique is just too good for too many different calibers not to use it, but it just doesn't meter for sh**.

I have had better luck with 231 or Bullseye in my Dillon. Unique worked well but it verried just a little more than the other 2.

What kind of variance are you seeing with unique. I get .3 to .4 grain swings once and a while. Most of the time it measures within .1 gr but every out of every 15 or so loads I get a .3 to .4grain difference. Not huge I know, but I was trying to reduce the variance. Maybe bullseye is the way to go.

So in your opinion Unique measures as well as W231?

oops, i just noticed we are using different measures.

I use a Lee perfect powder measure and Unique meters just as well as the W231 does.

So did I, with opposite results. W231 metered Wayyyyyyyyy better. I was getting .2 to -3 grain variances with Unique. Rarely more than .1 grain with W231.
