Universal M1 Carbine Second Generation

Bought a Universal M1 Carbine from my LGS last night. I believe its a second generation based on the serial # and lack of bolt hold open. I've read that the third generation models had the possibility of out of battery firing. (I know any semi auto has the "possibility" of OOB but it seems to be documented the the 3rd gens). Does anyone know of OOB issues with the second generation Universals? Looks like a fun gun but don't want the thing blowing up in my son's face (or mine for that matter).
