Thank you to everyone who offered advice on my previous thread. (One of my favorite revolvers suffered a broken hammer nose and my FiL ordered a S&W K frame hammer nose to replace it with.)

The S&W hammer nose both didn't fit and fit. The Rossi one is slightly smaller and has a slightly simpler shape. My FiL and I hand-fitted the S&W one until it was almost identical to the original. (This means that he did a lot of very careful work while I handed him tools and tried to look mechanically inclined.) Eventually it fit the hammer properly, lined up on the hole properly, and protruded a proper distance through the frame. We re-used the original rivet to install it, since the S&W one was a little bit longer. It seems to be on there nice and tight, and has a proper range of motion.

At some point next week we will take it to the range and test fire it. Below I am including a picture of it broken, a picture of it fixed, and a gratuitous picture of its innards.
